About the Job
The Head of Generation Global leads the Ultimate Dialogue Adventure (UDA), an online and free programme for global citizenship education under Generation Global. The post holder is accountable for the growth and development of the programme for students and teachers and associated global citizenship events worldwide. The Head develops and oversees strategy for global reach and programme innovation, digital transformation, special projects, and a globally distributed team. The role requires representing and championing the program internally and externally with strategic and governmental partners and donors, and collaborating on thought leadership, fundraising, communications, and impact. In collaboration with the IB youth initiatives, the head of the UDA programme will advance youth empowerment and engagement by integrating youth activities as a core aspect of the IB educational experience amongst our diverse stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Programme Management
* Direct the design and delivery of programme goals and strategy, including digital platform transformation and special projects.
* Produce and deliver the annual business plan and programme key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring alignment with business unit plans and individual KPIs.
* Ensure robust resource and programme management processes, including reporting and legal/policy documentation (security, safeguarding, legal, financial).
* Oversee accurate financial monitoring and budgeting to ensure expenditure aligns with plans and donor requirements where applicable.
* Ensure funds are applied according to financial management and control policies, within approved budgets and agreed timeframes.
* Ensure compliance with corporate policies, project systems, and processes, including safeguarding, security, and legal matters.
Thought Leadership on Youth Engagement
* Collaborate with the IB youth team to integrate UDA as an integral part of the IB Youth strategy and activities.
* Develop and implement a post-UDA engagement strategy.
* Empower youth to drive the continuous innovation of the UDA experience.
External Relations & Advocacy
* Champion the programme externally to ministries, governments, school groups, key donors, thought leaders, and stakeholders in global citizenship education and the broader education sector.
* Establish new partnerships, develop joint policy statements, and grow the reach, impact, and sustainability of the programme.
* Ensure alignment of the UDA with IB’s growth strategy and mission and strategic goals working in partnership with IB Business Development and other teams.
Research, Innovation & Content
* Collaborate with the research team to support project design, development, and implementation, including technological innovation for efficient and effective online platform operation.
* Be accountable for innovating education content on the UDA and Teacher Pathway, in alignment with IB education values and professional learning offerings.
* Continue to evolve the digital experience of students on the platform to ensure relevance and strong engagement.
* Ensure effective implementation of monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities, including data collection and analysis.
Team Leadership
* Lead and manage a core, globally located team, including staff, technical consultants, and facilitators.
* Develop a high-performing global team with strong local expertise.
* Oversee the business development for UDA to further grow the number of students, teachers and schools participating in the programme.
* Represent the programme internally to Board Members, Executive Team, and cross office leadership on thought leadership, fundraising, communications, legal, people, safeguarding, and impact and learning.
* Work across the organization to maximize synergies, influence, and impact, contributing to the IB growth target, especially in regions with the largest youth population.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
* Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning.
* Collaborate with Legal to update and maintain the safeguarding compliance of child protection legislation in countries where Generation Global operates.
* Work closely with Education, Research, Marketing, and other teams within the Community Partnership and Development Office to align growth efforts and maximize impact.
* Collaborate with the IB Access Grant department to identify and pursue fundraising opportunities.
Problem Solving & Decision-Making Responsibilities
The post holder operates with a high degree of autonomy and strategic influence.
* Shape and lead the programme and learning experience innovation and growth strategy, making independent decisions on operational execution, partnership development, and key stakeholder engagement.
* Facilitate complex decision-making processes involving multiple stakeholders, including internal departments, external partners, and ministerial bodies, often in multicultural and cross-sectoral contexts.
* Navigate ambiguity and evolving priorities, balancing short-term opportunities with long-term strategic goals.
* Represent the program and negotiate collaborative partnerships on behalf of the IB with key stakeholders including ministries, governments, private school groups and strategic partners.
* Manage budget allocations and content development priorities in support of program growth.
* Recommend UDA as a pathway for IB school growth and retention strategy.
Impact
* Manage, engage, and grow a student base of 90,000 and teacher base of 2,500 reaching 135 countries.
* Oversee a departmental budget of $2.0M annually.
* Lead a global team of 23 and over 20 partnerships.

Additional Qualifications
* Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferably social sciences, international studies, or related area), or equivalent experience.
* Proven program management experience within a set budget.
* Track record of growing a stakeholder base for a program or service.
* Experience leading a team of 10 or more with diverse functions.
* Seven to ten years of relevant international work experience in a similar not-for-profit or public sector organization.
* Training and/or qualifications in programme management.
