Our client is well established in their industry and currently looking for a Product Engineer focused on designing, developing, and improving electrical products and solutions from concept to production to join their team.
What you will do
* Design and develop new products and improve existing solutions using CAD 2D/3D.
* Prepare costing data, technical and shop drawings, bills of materials, design calculations, and technical specifications.
* Produce and test prototypes and support product validation with test laboratories and standards bodies.
* Review designs to identify cost savings and performance improvements.
* Create and maintain product installation guides, technical literature, and product technical files.
* Plan and schedule engineering activities to deliver projects on time.
* Ensure engineered products meet UK electrical standards, mandatory legislation, and customer specifications.
* Work with commercial teams to validate proposed solutions and support new business opportunities.
* Support supplier factoring and incorporate supplier input into product development.
* Design for in-house assembly and production processes to optimise manufacturability.
Who we are looking for
* Minimum HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Degree preferred.
* Strong electrical design background with experience of circuit protection enclosures for single and three phase systems.
* Clear understanding of UK electrical standards and specifications.
* Experience of electrical specification processes, commercial constraints, and on-site electrical installations.
* Proficient with CAD 2D/3D modelling; professional certification in Autodesk, PTC Creo, SolidWorks or similar is an advantage.
* Competent with Excel; ERP experience preferred.
* Hands‑on practitioner who understands both the product offer and assembly operations.
* Self‑motivated, detail-oriented, and able to coordinate with production, supply chain, sales, and finance teams.
