Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Environmental Advisor to work on a newly awarded water project based out of Warrington.
We provide end-to-end services for major water and sewage companies such as Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, Northern Ireland Water, Yorkshire Water, and United Utilities. We also serve water-only companies including SES Water, Bristol Water, and South East Water. Additionally, we offer a full design, build, operate, and maintain service for Uisce Éireann, currently operating over 25 of their facilities to ensure efficiency and full compliance with EPA regulations.
A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Environmental Advisor
1. Advise and support Project Management and Supervisors in environmental responsibilities and respond to environmental queries or correspondence.
2. Identify necessary environmental permits or exemptions, ensure their acquisition, and maintain compliance records.
3. Produce Contract Environmental & Social Management Plans, Site Waste Management Plans, Local Environmental Procedures, and other contract-specific environmental plans or instructions.
4. Support site management to ensure adherence to the Environmental and Social Management Plan.
5. Develop and implement sustainability campaigns and improvement plans in coordination with project teams.
6. Conduct regular environmental inspections to monitor compliance, log incidents, and investigate non-conformances. Report major incidents to senior management and authorities as required.
7. Collect and report environmental and sustainability statistics for the Business Unit or Contract.
8. Review statistics to identify trends, develop improvement plans, and implement environmental campaigns.
9. Identify significant environmental and social impacts or opportunities and help incorporate controls into contracts.
10. Provide project managers with updates on sustainability matters.
11. Identify employees needing environmental training, deliver training, and maintain records.
12. Assist in the delivery of the Group Audit Programme.

* Experience in an Environmental Advisory role
* Qualified with an Environmental Degree
* Knowledge of Scottish environmental law in construction
* Construction/infrastructure experience
* Working towards IEMA qualification is desirable
* Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and BS OHSAS 18001 standards
