Job Overview
Combe Down Primary School – Term time only. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for visitors and parents, manage a wide range of administrative systems and support safeguarding, finance, HR and estates processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide effective secretarial and administrative support to the Headteacher, staff and Governors.
* Manage reception duties, including meeting and greeting visitors and handling telephone enquiries in line with safeguarding procedures.
* Support pupil administration including admissions, attendance, census returns and maintenance of the school MIS.
* Maintain and update the school website and manage pupil records, including transfers between schools.
* Provide governance administration support.
Finance and Operations
* Support school‑level finance processes including procurement, local income, trips, clubs, lettings and fundraising.
* Manage invoices, reconciliations, registers and local contracts/SLAs.
* Liaise with catering providers and manage parent payment systems.
* Support estates and health & safety administration, including lettings, emergency procedures, accident reporting and compliance tasks.
HR and Workforce Administration
* Support recruitment processes, including DBS checks, onboarding and personnel file administration.
* Maintain the Single Central Record (SCR).
* Process absence, return‑to‑work documentation and leaver administration.
* Support volunteer, work experience and governor compliance processes.
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
* A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English.
* Experience in an administrative or similar role.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
* Previous experience working in a school or educational setting.
