This role offers a variety of challenges, including management of people, clients, and projects, technical leadership, business development, commercial management, and delivery of training. Flexibility to shape the role around the right candidate is available; however, experience in line or team management is advantageous.
We are recruiting a Principal Consultant or Associate Director to support the growth of the Ecology & Biodiversity Team in Scotland. The location is flexible, but the candidate should be able to commute to our offices in Grangemouth at least once per week.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a BSc and/or MSc in Ecology or a related discipline, and be a member of a relevant professional body such as the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
The essential skills include:
* Line management or team management experience
* Review/QA of fee proposals, tenders, and technical reports
* Ability to communicate complex issues clearly to clients
* Knowledge of the Scottish planning system
* Project budget management skills
* Business development skills, delivering good service and maintaining client communication
* Support and development of less senior staff
* Possession of a protected species licence (Schedule 1, great crested newt, bats, badger, otter)
* Experience in ornithology surveys, assessments, and mitigation
* Stakeholder consultation experience (e.g., Nature Scot, SEPA, local authorities)
* Creative ecological problem-solving skills
