This role comes with a Market Pay Supplement of up to �5,000
New entrants to the Civil Service are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band.
The internal roles rules apply to existing Civil Servants, level transfers move on current salary or the pay range minimum, transfers on promotion move to new pay range minimum or receive 10% increase. Either case is determined by whichever is the highest.

Introduction
As a Scrum Master in the UKHSA Technology Directorate �you will be responsible for promoting and supporting Agile working practices as defined in, among other places, the Scrum Guide.
You will use your considerable experience of Agile development approaches �to ensure �products are delivered �consistently and effectively.
You will be an ambassador for Agile approaches within the Technology Directorate and the wider organisation. Your role as a servant leader and team coach will involve ensuring that Agile teams align with best practices and consistently deliver exceptional value.

Job Overview
As a Scrum Master in the UKHSA you will be responsible for promoting and supporting Scrum practices in the organisation. you will focus on removing impediments to the rapid delivery of deployable products, and work with stakeholders to define and manage a sustainable backlog of work.
The Scrum Master will actively build and promote an agile approach and environment, using Agile tools and methodology to ensure the successful delivery of multiple outcomes via multi-disciplinary teams.
Flexibility to changing requirements is essential in this role, you will need to be prepared to adjust your ways of working depending on the skill level of the team that you are leading, this may require you to support the team by taking responsibility for some aspects of delivery manager and project manager.

Main Duties of the Job
9. Help team members understand Scrum theory, practices, rules and values
10. Act as the servant leader to the Agile team, assisting them in delivering high value products
11. Mentor the team in self-organisation and cross-functionality
12. Remove impediments to analysis work, development and testing

13. Establish a feedback loop from the team to the senior management to ensure the team, and individuals within the team, are kept motivated and the offerings improved
14. Establish and maintain a dashboard so that velocity and progress can be reported and improved upon
15. Facilitate all Scrum ceremonies effectively
16. Work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to provide regular updates on progress, addressing any concerns or issues
17. Be an advocate of Automation and our Target Operating Model
18. Support the needs of the team and adapt your style/approach to meet their requirements

Person specification
Essential Criteria:
19. 1+ years experience as a Scrum Master;
20. Experience and confidence in the use of JIRA and Confluence
21. Scrum Master experience working with Agile teams
22. Ability to adapt your level of support to meet the needs of the team
23. Planning skills - understand and act upon the prioritisation criteria to enable forward planning of Development Sprints, in addition to, re planning activities for urgent time sensitive changes
24. Interpersonal skills - able to communicate progress and blockers to senior stakeholders
25. Relationship management � build and maintain strong relationships to motivate and get the best out of Agile teams
26. Problem ownership � experienced and able to lead a problem through to resolution;
27. Highly motivated and resilient

28. Scrum Master certification
29. Experience of working across multiple Agile teams;
30. Experience of delivering with Technology teams.
