Quality Assurance and Practice Lead, Ipswich Short Break Service

£12.72 per hour

Leading Lives provides social care support for people with learning disabilities, autism, and complex needs in the home and community across Suffolk and neighboring counties. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise, owned by our employees. Any surplus is reinvested into services for our customers or the local community.

Working closely with our Director and Service Manager, you will ensure the Short Break team at Burgess House complies with social care quality standards such as CQC, Local Authorities, and Leading Lives’ policies. You will need to be in the service during weekends and between 3.30pm and 10am at times to audit staff compliance.

These services provide short breaks for customers, offering the chance to work with individuals with diverse personalities and support needs.

As Quality Assurance and Practice Lead, your role is to ensure high standards of care quality. It involves both office work and working alongside staff on shift to coach, mentor, supervise, and audit. Weekend and evening work may be required. You should be a confident decision-maker, able to work efficiently and deliver targeted work volumes.

About The Role


Accountabilities:

* Review and complete compliance and quality audits regularly.
* Maintain and update care files, medication, and H&S records, making recommendations as needed.
* Ensure customer service needs are met according to the company’s customer charter.
* Work within GDPR guidelines, maintaining confidentiality.
* Audit GDPR practices locally to ensure standards are met.
* Write and update moving and handling risk assessments.
* Communicate effectively with the management team and build positive relationships.
* Act as a mentor, providing direction, shadowing, and support.
* Support development plans, care certificates, and witness testimonials for RQF.
* Assess customer requirements and needs.
* Support conversations with families.

What you need:

* Effective communication skills across various contacts.
* Experience working in a care setting, supporting individuals with learning disabilities, intimate care, complex needs, and risk assessments.
* Awareness of relevant H&S and care legislation.
* Quality Assurance experience.
* Knowledge of GDPR legislation.
* Understanding of legal requirements in health and social care.
* Competency in total communication and PBS.
* Good numerical skills and understanding of statistics.
* Strong planning and organizational skills.
* Good report writing and presentation skills.
