Job Title: Media Officer
Hours of work: 35 hours per week plus additional payment for home matches
Salary range: £22,500
Job role: To provide effective and engaging content for the Club’s website and social media channels and ensure its distribution through the appropriate channels.
Duties & responsibilities:
- In conjunction with the advisor on Communication Strategy, develop and execute the Club’s communications strategy, covering all areas of the business other than the Community business
- Write content for the Club’s official website (other than the TRIC/Community aspects), matchday programme and any Club App, ensuring all content is current, engaging and communicating key messages
- Keep up to date with current and emerging digital technologies which impact the creation or distribution of content (in conjunction with the Associate Directors for Digital Strategy)
- Use the CMS to manage the Club’s website
- Manage and grow the Club’s presence on social media channels but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for both the Club’s main brand and individual sub-brands (eg TRFC International, TRIC, the @educationhub)
- Ensure that the communications needs of all departments across the business are understood and delivered
- Utilise aggregation/content management tools to co-ordinate social media content, to ensure content is current, to a high quality and reaching the targeted audience.
- Attend all first team home and away matches
- Organise and produce pre-match, in-match and post-match social media and website content including match reports
- Mange the RoversTV commentary team on a matchday to ensure they understand the Club’s key messages and they are operating effectively each matchday
- Organise media arrangements for home fixtures. These can include: Creating a seating plan for the press box on matchdays, accepting visiting requests via Dataco and answering any queries. This also includes submitting press requests for away fixtures
- Produce social media and online analytics and growth reports for the Senior Management Team and external stakeholders when required
- Ensure that communications are structured for search engine optimisation
- Co-ordinate and manage all pre-match press conferences at The Campus
- Use own initiative to respond to reputational issues on social media, identifying any queries to escalate to line manager
- Champion the positive use of social media with the Club’s staff, supporters and stakeholders
Skills, qualifications and knowledge required:
* Clean driving licence (the successful applicant must be willing and able to drive to away fixtures)
* 2+ years’ experience using content management systems
* 2+ years’ experience of managing social media channels
* A good understanding of a professional sports environment, preferably football
* Excellent writing and audio/visual skills
* Experience of using Adobe editing software
* An interest in digital media and search engine optimisation
* An ability to work to tight deadlines and under pressure
* Relevant journalism qualification preferred (e.g. NCTJ)
