Principal Cable Design Engineer (Energy)
Join WSP as a Principal Cable Design Engineer (Energy) and work across the UK and beyond to deliver essential electricity infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership for multi‑discipline projects.
* Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with contracts, meeting client satisfaction, and managing Health and Safety risks.
* Develop and maintain external and internal client relationships.
* Coordinate technical management of subcontractors and remote resources.
* Identify and mitigate technical risks and ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
* Participate in industry working groups such as CIGRE and IEEE.
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (preferably Electrical or Power).
* Extensive experience in designing, manufacturing and testing HV cables for HVAC and HVDC (onshore and offshore) projects.
* Knowledge of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies, and ability to act as a cable expert.
* Experience with third‑party cable activities such as testing, installation and transport.
* Participation in technical committees such as CIGRE and IEEE.
* Working toward or attained Chartered Engineer status.
* Willingness to travel as project needs require.
