Role Summary
Are you a trainee pharmacist looking to register as a pharmacist with the GPhC in Summer 2025? Are you eager to improve patient care and experience while expanding your knowledge within Hospital Pharmacy? We have an exciting opportunity to join our small, friendly, and established team of Pharmacists at North Devon District Hospital in Barnstaple. This role offers structured progression from Band 6 to Band 7 within 18-24 months. As this is a development role, you'll have ample learning opportunities in a top-ranked NHS Trust and teaching hospital providing a full range of acute hospital services to Devon residents.

As a key member of the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will join an exceptional Pharmacy team committed to helping patients stay healthy when they need it most.
You will participate in various rotations, including:
* Acute medicine
* Gastroenterology / respiratory
* Cardiology / care of the elderly
* Stroke
* Surgery and orthopaedics
You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team comprising:
* Medical and surgical teams
* Allied health professionals
* Nutrition team
* Pain team
* Hospice
Your daily duties will include:
* Clinical review of inpatients
* Providing clinical advice to professionals
* Supporting the dispensary (a small part of your day)
At North Devon District Hospital, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality Clinical Pharmacy services across diverse wards. The role provides exposure to various specialties, helping you develop core knowledge and skills, with support for your professional development, including clinical diploma or independent prescribing courses. Clear pathways are mapped for your experience and progression.
Newly qualified Pharmacists will start at Band 6, providing a solid foundation in hospital pharmacy. Support will be available for funding a clinical diploma, with progression to Band 7 upon meeting developmental gateways.

This position includes a Recruitment and Retention Premium of £2,000 (pro-rata for part-time) and an on-call premium of approximately £2,400, payable over 12 months, subject to eligibility.
