We have a great opportunity for someone to join the Bernard Matthews Sunderland Family and be part of a well established Operations/Hygiene Team (AM Shift 06:00am - 14:00pm), manage/oversee an area as Hygiene Team Leader (AM Shift).

To maintain the hygiene requirements of the factory areas to an audit ready standard where there is minimal risk to food safety, legality, quality and authenticity. Ensure that day hygiene operatives in nominated department complete all tasks to satisfactory standard.

Responsibilities (List not exhaustive):

* To ensure that all factory areas in the nominated department are kept clean, free of floor debris & water by the day hygiene operatives.
* Ensure that rubbish bins are emptied, black bags are replenished, and full rubbish sacks are removed in a safe manor to designated waste collection area by the day hygiene operatives.
* Ensure that condensation is removed from all ceiling areas using condensation squeegees in a way that does not introduce a food safety risk to product by day hygiene operatives.
* Run the basket washer (low risk) and / or wire wash / tray wash (high risk) and ensure the correct temperature / chemical concentration using titration kits as completed by day hygiene operatives.
* Ensure day hygiene operatives clean machines and table as required using the methods stated in the appropriate Cleaning Instruction Card (CIC).
* Ensure PPE, soap and sanitizer levels are maintained by the day hygiene operatives.
* Safe Use of Chemicals: Ensure cleaning chemicals are controlled and locked. Ensure that chemicals are dosed correctly via the Dema units.
* Complete allergen inspection and swabs after an allergen clean as completed by day hygiene operatives.
* Ensure changing areas are kept clean by the day hygiene operatives, including cleaning boots and removing used coats.
* Verify any cleaning records as required to ensure that they are completed in full accurately and legibly, and any corrections are authorized. Ensure any deviations from standard are recorded and corrective action to bring back to standard are recorded. Ensure records are handed into Technical Department on a daily basis.
* Report any damaged equipment or machinery to engineering department via work request system. Ensure cleaning equipment is kept clean and maintained in a good working order.
* Follow all site personal hygiene rules and general site rules.
* Ensure all team are trained to Food Safety Level 2 and Introduction to Cleaning & Chemical Safety (Kersia course), in addition to hygiene operatives trained against specific Cleaning Instruction Cards (CIC), with the training documented and health and safety training.
* Present the hygiene management system to any site visitor / auditor as required.
* Manage the nominated department hygiene operatives with relation to correct manning levels, holidays, sickness/absence, return to work.
* Essential: Hygiene and Manager experience. FMCG background also essential.
