We are looking for a Mechanical Estimator with experience in mechanical services contracting—particularly with prefabricated solutions—to join our team based in Maidenhead. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed and competitive mechanical estimates for HVAC systems, chilled water pipework, plantroom packages, and prefabricated mechanical assemblies, including steel support structures and gantries.
This is a key role within the commercial team, supporting tenders and live projects across the UK, Europe and Ireland.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review tender documentation and produce detailed mechanical cost estimates for prefabricated plantrooms, pipework systems, steel gantries, and associated services.
* Prepare material take-offs and liaise with in-house fabrication teams, supply chain, and subcontractors for accurate pricing.
* Assess drawings and specifications, identifying value engineering opportunities and potential design efficiencies.
* Support commercial team with project budgeting, cost planning, and post-tender clarifications.
* Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to ensure estimate alignment with project delivery strategy.
* Maintain and update a database of cost rates, materials, and supplier information.
* Attend site visits and pre-tender meetings where necessary.
Key Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Mechanical Estimator in a building services or MEP contracting environment.
* Experience estimating for prefabricated mechanical systems, modular plantrooms, pipework systems, and steel support frameworks.
* Good understanding of HVAC systems, chilled water pipework, and public health installations.
* Ability to interpret detailed technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong communication and negotiation skills for dealing with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
* Proficiency in Excel and relevant estimating tools.
Desirable (not essential) Experience:
* Background working with M&E contractors in the data centre, industrial, or commercial sectors.
* Understanding of fabrication and off-site construction methods.
* Familiarity with BIM models and digital take-off tools.
