Job Title: Motion Visual Designer
Contract Length: 6 months (possible extension)
Location: London (Hybrid)
Start Date: ASAP
Role Overview
We are looking for a mid-weight Motion Visual Designer with strong Adobe After Effects expertise to join an innovation-focused design stream working on upcoming and new device concepts.
This role sits at the intersection of digital interaction, product experience, and motion, helping bring early-stage ideas, concepts, and design thinking to life. The focus is on screens, interactions, and sensory experience-how users engage with devices through motion, feedback, and interface behaviour.
You will collaborate closely with innovation teams, industrial designers, and digital designers to visualise concepts for small screens, IoT devices, and wearable technology, translating ideation into clear, engaging motion explorations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and animate 2D and 2.5D motion concepts using Adobe After Effects
2. Bring early-stage ideas, concepts, and innovation thinking to life through motion
3. Create motion studies for:
4. On-screen interactions and UI behaviour
5. Small screens and IoT devices
6. Wearables (e.g. smartwatches and connected devices)
7. Device interactions including buttons, transitions, and feedback
8. Explore user interaction and sensory experience, including how motion supports usability and understanding
9. Support industrial and digital design teams by visualising:
10. Interface behaviour
11. Transitions and states
12. Interaction logic and motion language
13. Apply strong animation fundamentals including timing, easing, anticipation, overshoot, and follow-through
14. Produce clear, polished motion outputs that communicate ideas rather than finished VFX
15. Work iteratively, responding to feedback and evolving concepts quickly
Required Skills & Experience
16. Strong, hands-on experience using Adobe After Effects as a primary tool
17. Proven ability to animate:
18. UI elements and interactions
19. Text, shapes, and illustrative assets
20. Composited video where required
21. Solid understanding of:
22. Motion principles and interaction-led animation
23. Compositing techniques (masking, blending modes, basic keying/roto)
24. Pre-compositions and expressions for efficient workflows
25. Comfortable working with assets from Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro
26. Experience visualising motion for small screens, devices, or product interfaces is highly desirable
27. Strong attention to detail with a clean, considered motion style
Desirable Experience
28. Exposure to IoT, wearable technology, or connected devices
29. Experience collaborating with industrial designers or product teams
30. Understanding of interaction design and user-centred motion
31. Cinema 4D or light 3D awareness is a bonus, but not essential
32. Confident working in fast-paced, concept-driven environments
What This Role Is
33. Mid-weight motion designer role
34. Conceptual and interaction-led
35. Focused on innovation, devices, and experience
36. Less about heavy VFX, more about clarity, behaviour, and storytelling through motion
