The mental health support team (MHST) has the opportunity to further develop work within the field of young people’s mental health and wellbeing and provides CBT, guided self-help, parenting, with a focus on development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing and the development of the think family approaches within the schools environment.
Main duties of the job
. The post holder will be working as part of the MHST service, leading the teams in partnership with the other Clinical and Team Leaders to ensure the service provides early intervention and promotes good mental well-being to children and young people. This is an exciting opportunity for The post holder will be expected to work in partnership with professionals in schools and parents/carers to affectively plan support for children and young people beyond one to one intervention for example assembly’s and supportive training. The post holder will be responsible for developing strong relationships with CYP MH services across the Black Country including CAMHS to ensure the most informed care pathways for children and young people.

Main Duties of the Job
1. Effective triaging of referrals across the Black Country.
2. Provide specialist assessments of children and young people referred to the service.
3. Develop, implement and review a range of evidence based treatment plans informed by clinical assessment and the specific needs of the individual within their wider social context.
4. Provide clinical supervision, leadership to the assigned MHST and staff from all locality teams where appropriate.
5. Contribute to the development and delivery of CPD programmes for staff.
6. Working with MHST Team Leads to ensure delivery of the MHST action plan, highlight risk and plan mitigation, escalating where necessary
7. Reviewing the referral pathways, ensuring they are informed and being effectively utilised
8. Lead on developing relationships with other services that support CYP
9. Working closely with other professionals in schools, developing referral pathways and planning engagement with the schools.
10. Contribute and support strategic planning, ensuring the needs of children, young people, their parents/carers and schools is informing the development of the service.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated mental health practitioner who is experienced in mental health problems and psychiatric disorders, accredited by the BABCP and will be expected to carry out in-depth mental health assessments including risk assessments where required. Applicants must have a passion for developing and working closely with other professionals in schools in order to develop referral pathways. The post holder must have experience of working with a wide variety of children and young people in a range of clinical settings.
Experience in leadership role is important however we are looking for a candidate with the essential skills and values required to clinically lead and proactively support a busy team which is always adapting and changing according to need. This is an exciting time to join the service and this role will be key in driving forward the service and developing whole school approaches to mental health. Experience of recent working with schools and delivering mental health promotional collaborative work in such an arena is vital in order to be able to fulfill the role. Applicants must also have experience of providing case management supervision to CAMHS staff, student or other team professionals.
Applicants will be need to have a genuine interest in working within Children and Young people’s mental health and wellbeing within the schools environment. Applicants must have excellent communication skills and be able to network and show enthusiasm when working with other agencies such as Schools, Public Health, Local Authorities amongst others as and when required.

Criteria
Essential criteria
20. Core profession (HCPC, Social Care, Nursing or recognised degree level or broad based health and social care qualification which will require completion of The British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Knowledge Skills and attributes).
21. Qualification and registration in CBT
22. CYPIAPT Supervisor training for high intensity CBT required or willing to undertake
23. Experience of specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions with children and young people with mental health problems.
24. Must have experience of leading and supervising staff a large team
25. Must be a car driver
