Main duties and responsibilities
1. Coordinate the development and implementation of the infant feeding strategy across maternity services to improve breastfeeding rates.
2. Provide expert leadership and support for staff, demonstrating commitment to best practices in infant feeding.
3. Oversee monitoring, auditing, action planning, and evaluation of the infant feeding strategy, including regular feedback reports.
4. Lead the infant feeding team, coordinating with infant feeding leads across areas, the Breastfeeding Clinic, and other support services.
5. Develop and evaluate an infant feeding training program that meets Baby Friendly Initiative standards, including audits and updates.
6. Offer expert feeding advice and support in clinical areas and the Breastfeeding Clinic, including supervising practical breastfeeding skills for staff.
7. Develop close working relationships with the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
8. Respond to and investigate feeding-related complaints.
