Overview
Customs Administrator - Stafford. A 12-month contract opportunity for a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with experience in imports and customs, to join a leading team at a facility in Stafford. This role focuses on ensuring compliance and maintaining smooth international operations.
About the Role
As a Customs Administrator, you will handle the daily import and customs activities, ensuring parts and products flow across international borders seamlessly. Your role is vital in maintaining regulatory compliance and preventing disruption to delivery schedules. You will work closely with freight forwarders and customs brokers while collaborating with internal partners such as Material Planning and Finance.
Responsibilities
* Provide timely and accurate clearance instructions to Customs Brokers.
* Manage import documents, ensuring they are correct and complete.
* Calculate customs duties and ensure duty savings are obtained where appropriate.
* Produce and maintain accurate records and files to satisfy HMRC and company audits.
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders and maintain compliance metrics.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying areas to optimize procedures.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with a meticulous eye for detail, a problem-solving mindset, and a collaborative spirit.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Experience in an imports/exports role is beneficial, with a minimum of 12 months preferred, but less experience will be considered for the right candidate.
* Highly focused and accurate with a meticulous eye for detail.
* Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (basic formulas, pivot tables, formatting, charts, etc.).
* A great team player who is self-sufficient and enjoys working collaboratively.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Desirable Skills
* Experience working with a large, global organization.
* An understanding of Incoterms and experience with CDS.
Pay and Working Hours
* Pay Rate: £13.00 - £14.50 per hour
* Working Hours: 08:00 - 16:30, Monday to Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch break, and 08:00 - 13:00 on Friday.
