Rapid Response Occupational Therapist

An exciting and challenging opportunity for a permanent full‑time band 6 Occupational Therapist within the Integrated Independence Team (Rapid Response Team). This role will be offered to an existing band 6 therapist or an experienced band 5 therapist.
The Integrated Independence Team is an integrated health and social care service jointly delivered by Homerton University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the London Borough of Hackney. The team promotes independence, delivers outcome‑focused care, and provides a seamless journey through the care system. It includes Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Psychotherapists, Nurses, Speech and Language Therapists, Consultant Geriatricians, Social Workers, OT Technician, Care Support Coordinators, Care Support Workers, Therapy Assistants and Administration staff.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week (part‑time, flexible working or compressed hours may be considered).
Main duties
* Provide rapid response and senior Occupational Therapy assessment and treatment for complex patients within the Emergency Department, short stay unit and community referrals to prevent hospital admission and promote early discharge.
* Work within a multidisciplinary team to facilitate hospital discharge and prevent acute admission.
* Develop clinical, teaching and management skills through opportunities within the team and the wider organisation.
* Support junior staff, supervise service development projects, and participate in peer supervision and in‑service training.

Education / Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy recognised by the RCOT
* HCPC registration

Skills / Abilities
* Assess clients with complex physical disabilities
* Manage a clinical caseload and prioritise as required
* Senior level of clinical skills

* Sound IT skills (e.g. Word processing, e‑mail)
* Problem‑solve, plan and manage time effectively
* Awareness of own competency level and ability to seek appropriate help
* Work effectively within a multi‑disciplinary team

* Clear, concise verbal and written reporting skills
* Implement teaching programmes within the field for different staff groups
Experience
* Post‑graduate experience in general physical field of OT
* Experience in an acute hospital setting
* Experience in contributing to service development projects
* Experience working in a community setting
* Application of assessment and treatment approaches, including discharge planning and models of practice
* Awareness of current professional and NHS issues relevant to the client group
* Knowledge of risk management / clinical governance principles
* Experience with outcome measures and quality improvement, including clinical effectiveness

Salary
£47,951 to £56,863 a year pro‑rata per annum inclusive.
