Job Title: Principal Product Safety Engineer
Location: Frimley, Weymouth, Bristol, Portsmouth, Barrow-in-Furness, Plymouth, or Brough, depending on role and personal circumstances. We offer hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.
Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience
What you’ll be doing:
1. Providing advice on product safety matters to project and engineering managers, ensuring safety considerations are correctly addressed and implemented.
2. Engaging with third parties to review and gather supporting safety case evidence.
3. Developing safety arguments, both physical and functional, using appropriate safety analysis methods, and producing/updating safety case and safety management documentation according to relevant regulations and standards.
4. Line managing other safety practitioners.
Your skills and experiences:
1. Knowledge of safety engineering processes, practices, and tools.
2. Understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles.
3. Experience and qualifications in engineering disciplines that demonstrate the correct behaviors and understanding of safety engineering will be considered.
4. Good communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.

The Combat Systems Safety Team:
Work closely with engineers and technical specialists on In-Service and In-Build Combat Systems, developing safety arguments and understanding new technologies and sensor systems used in safety arguments. Experience in the military, defence, and maritime industries is welcomed, especially knowledge that can help us deliver the best products into submarines. Relocation support packages are available for all submarine roles, subject to eligibility.
