Our menu focuses on traditional British Pub classics, cooked with care and made from scratch - from hearty fish pies and homemade soups to hand-crafted burgers, fresh fish specials, and indulgent homemade desserts. Our legendary Sunday roasts are a major draw, and we pride ourselves on keeping things honest, seasonal and delicious.
We are looking for a dedicated Sous Chef to join our small, passionate kitchen team. Working closely with our Head Chef, you'll play a key role in daily kitchen operations, menu planning, and maintaining the high standards our customers expect. You'll also take charge in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring smooth service and consistent quality.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations
Assist with menu development and creation of seasonal specials
Oversee food preparation and service to maintain quality and consistency
Take full responsibility for the kitchen on the Head Chef's days off
Help manage stock control, ordering, and supplier relationships
Ensure all health & safety, hygiene, and food safety standards are upheld
Contribute to the preparation of our famous Sunday roasts and homemade desserts
About You
Proven experience as a Sous Chef or strong experience as a Chef de Partie ready to step up
Confident cooking traditional British pub dishes to a high standard
Creative with ideas for developing hearty, seasonal menus and specials
Organised, reliable and calm under pressure
A genuine love of traditional pub food and countryside hospitality
Able to work weekends and evenings as part of a rota
Level 2 Food Hygiene, level 3 desirable but not essential
