Buyer (Manufacturing Sector)
A rapidly expanding manufacturer is looking to appoint an experienced Buyer to strengthen its procurement function. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced production environment and enjoys building strong supplier relationships while driving cost efficiency.
About the Role
The Buyer will take responsibility for sourcing materials and services, managing supplier performance, and ensuring the production team has everything they need to operate smoothly. The role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining commercial negotiation with operational problem‑solving.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and implement procurement strategies that support business objectives
* Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts to secure competitive and reliable supply
* Analyse costs and quality benchmarks to support continuous improvement
* Ensure timely delivery of materials and maintain supplier performance
* Monitor market trends and identify new sourcing opportunities
* Build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal teams
* Manage stock levels to support production while minimising excess inventory
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role (FMCG experience advantageous)
* Confident using procurement or vendor management systems
* Strong Microsoft Office skills
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical abilities
* CIPS qualification is beneficial but not essential
