School Officer - Assisting Student Learning (ASL), Chatham
St Clare's Catholic School, Burdell, is seeking a dedicated and experienced School Officer - Assisting Student Learning (ASL) to commence on Monday, 14 July 2025. The position involves 20 hours per week at 5 hours per day (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) and concludes on 5 December 2025. It is a Fixed Term, Term Time position.
The School Officer – Assisting Student Learning (ASL) works under the supervision of a teacher to provide learning and classroom support to all students, including those with additional needs, to facilitate their access and participation in schooling.
Typical Duties
* Providing support to individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable participation in learning and activities
* Assisting students with specific learning needs, including scribing and reading, and providing feedback to teachers
* Supporting student engagement by reinforcing appropriate behaviour
* Assisting students with classroom technology
* Performing administrative tasks such as record maintenance and resource production
* Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment
* Providing routine support for students' physical needs and personal care
Mandatory Criteria
* Current Working with Children Suitability Card (Blue Card)
* Current Driver's Licence
* Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
* Ability to perform physical requirements safely
* No formal qualification required; a Cert III in School Based Education Support or equivalent is preferred
