Position: Chemistry Teacher Location: York Contract: Full-Time Start Date: September Key Stages: KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable) Deliver Specialist Chemistry Teaching in a Strong Science Department A well-regarded secondary school in York is seeking a dedicated Chemistry Teacher to join its Science faculty from September. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to teach in a supportive environment with a clear focus on academic achievement and high-quality science education. Chemistry is a valued subject within the school, with strong uptake at GCSE and growing interest at A-Level. About the Role You will be responsible for delivering Chemistry across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience and subject expertise. Lessons will focus on developing students’ understanding of core chemical principles, including atomic structure, chemical reactions, periodic trends, and quantitative chemistry. You will also support students in developing practical laboratory skills and scientific thinking. The role involves both theory-based teaching and practical experimentation within well-equipped laboratories. Key Responsibilities Teach Chemistry across KS3–KS4 Deliver engaging and structured Chemistry lessons Support students during practical laboratory work Prepare pupils for GCSE Science (Chemistry) examinations Assess student progress and provide targeted feedback Maintain accurate records of attainment and progress Contribute to departmental planning and resources Ensure safe use of laboratory equipment and materials School Environment This secondary school in York provides a structured and supportive working environment with a strong emphasis on academic progress.
