The Role
Are you an experienced and passionate podiatrist ready to take the next step in your leadership journey? NHS Lanarkshire is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Deputy Head of Podiatry with strong evidence of Masters level working to support the strategic and operational leadership of our innovative and person-centred podiatry service.
You will work closely with the Head of Service to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care across a range of clinical settings. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape service development, mentor staff, and contribute to improving the mobility, independence, and quality of life of our patients.
The post is a 12 month fixed term/secondment opportunity which will stretch and develop your leadership and communication skills.

What we'll need you to bring
Registered Podiatrist with valid HCPC registration
Working knowledge of basic IT and relevant systems e.g Trakcare, Sci Diabetes
Educated to or evidence of operating at Masters level
Able to demonstrate knowledge and practice of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities framework or equivalent
Management knowledge gained through experience and continuous professional development
Professional, leadership and managerial experience within profession or area of clinical expertise that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safely, effectively and efficiently
Experience of assessing learning and training needs and a proven track record of developing teams/service
Experience of resource management e.g financial, human, capital
Experience in service planning, project management and performance monitoring/reporting
Knowledge and experience of needs assessment and analysis/interpretation of data
Extensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards relevant to podiatry and the wider AHP professions
Proven track record in sound and effective leadership. Ability to think strategically, corporately, and act as a team player and role model for NHS Scotland values
Proven track record in developing innovative solutions to meet organisational objectives and motivating staff to affect change
Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.
It would be great if you also have
Diploma or degree in Podiatry
Post-graduate management/leadership course
Quality Improvement course
Current CPD portfolio relevant to the post
Extensive NHS experience working in the profession
Demonstrable NHS experience working in a leadership role
Experience of leading teams
Evidence of leading projects
Previous experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
Experience of working in a variety of clinical settings i.e. community, acute
Working knowledge of relevant policies, procedures and protocols relevant in NHS Lanarkshire e.g, infection control, decontamination, health and safety and human resources
Broad knowledge of specialist services in podiatry
Postgraduate level expertise in one or more specialist areas
Behaviours in alignment with the organisational values
Operate using a Compassionate Leadership approach
Personal and professional integrity and effective management skills
Ability to manage and implement control measures around clinical, financial and service risks
Ability to maintain a safe, person-centred clinically evidenced based service
Ability to identify and manage risks
Excellent effective communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to operate under pressure
Leadership skills to enable the supervision/mentoring of other staff
Ability to interpret service data
Ability to set up and lead improvement projects

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.
Location and Working Pattern
This role will be based in Coathill Hospital
The working pattern for this role Mon-Fri; 9:00-5:00.
