Job Description
We are working with a fantastic organisation that require an experienced financial accountant to join on a temporary to permanent basis. The role needs a technically strong accountant who thrives in a hands-on environment and enjoys being involved in a wide variety of finance activity.Key ResponsibilitiesYear-End & Audit
* Lead the preparation of year-end accounts
* Act as the main point of contact for external auditors
* Manage audit requests, schedules, and supporting documentation
* Ensure compliance with charity accounting standards (SORP)
Financial Accounting & Controls
* Maintain and strengthen financial controls
* Support balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger integrity
* Oversee fixed asset registers and depreciation schedules
* Manage restricted/unrestricted fund accounting
Management Accounts & Month-End
* Assist with month-end processes including journals, accruals, and prepayments
* Support the production of monthly management accounts
* Provide analysis and insight to support senior decision-making
Other Responsibilities
* Support budgeting and forecasting cycles
* Assist with process improvements as the charity continues to grow
* Provide financial guidance to non-finance colleagues
Essential
* Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent)
* Strong experience with year-end processes and external audit coordination
* Solid understanding of controls, reconciliations, and financial accounting
* Experience preparing or supporting management accounts
* Ability to work independently and flexibly in a small organisation
* Excellent communication skills and a supportive, can-do attitude
Desirable
* Experience within the charity or not-for-profit sector
* Knowledge of SORP and charity statutory frameworks
* Experience working in a small finance team or similar environment
