Job description
SEN Outreach Tutor (Makaton Experienced)
ABOUT THE ROLE
Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate and experienced SEN Outreach Tutor to deliver personalised, 1:1 tuition to young learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), many of whom are currently not attending school.

1. Deliver 1:1 tailored tuition to SEN learners using appropriate communication methods ( Makaton, visual aids)
2. Develop and implement individualised learning plans that meet each student’s specific needs
3. Build trust and rapport with learners to support emotional regulation and engagement
4. Liaise with parents, carers, and Prospero’s team to track progress and adjust plans as needed
CONTRACT DETAILS:
5. Location: Barking and Dagenham
6. Start Date: ASAP
7. Hours: Flexible part-time sessions (typically between 1-3 hours per session)
8. Pay: £25-£35 per hour (based on experience and qualifications)
9. Contract Type: Temporary (with potential for ongoing work)
10. Duration: Varies per student – generally long-term placements
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
11. QTS, QTLS, PGCE or extensive experience in SEN support
12. Experience working with children with autism, learning difficulties, or speech and language needs
13. Makaton trained or significant experience using Makaton in an educational setting

16. Right to work in the UK
17. Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)
18. Two professional child-related references from the last two years
WHY WORK WITH PROSPERO TEACHING?

20. Flexibility to choose sessions that suit your availability
21. Opportunities to make a lasting impact with young people who need it most
