Senior Principal Protection & Control Design Engineer

The Opportunity

There are opportunities to work on projects focused on innovation, standardisation, technology assessment, and collaboration with suppliers on new products and services. This role supports projects up to 400 kV and involves taking projects from concept through detailed design and supporting them during construction and energisation. Ideally, you will have experience with key T&D clients in the UK. This is your chance to play a crucial role in the UK energy transition.
Your Role
 * Develop scoping documentation and Main Connections & Protection Diagrams.
 * Review Protection & Control Designs developed by third parties.
 * Specify P&C related equipment and plant such as relays, CTs, and VTs.
 * Produce detailed designs including AC/DC schematics.
 * Conduct protection grading studies, produce relay files and settings.
 * Review Commissioning Plans and attend Commissioning Panel meetings.
About You
 * Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in electrical engineering or a related field.
 * Experience working on Distribution Networks as a Senior/Principal Protection & Control Design Engineer.
 * Knowledge and experience with protection relays and relay panels, CT & VT sizing calculations, protection grading studies, and producing detailed AC/DC drawings.
 * Familiarity with UK electrical practices and standards and an understanding/appreciation of CDM regulations.
 * High regard for safety with demonstrable experience in risk mitigation.
 * Experience working with National Grid processes.
