Mechanical/Electronics/Mechatronics Test Engineer
Location: Dundee, Scotland
A position is available for an Engineer to work within the Solution Test and Compliance Team based in Dundee. This team supports all test and certification activities across the engineering development of complex ATM banking machines distributed worldwide.
Most projects are managed cross-functionally. This role will collaborate with teams including: Test, Quality, Engineering, Product Design, Device Design, Marketing, Supply, etc.
The Test Engineer will be responsible for designing tests that ensure products and devices meet specifications and support product release. You will develop test plans and specifications for hardware solutions and conduct independent tests focused on "test-to-fail" objectives. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
1. Ensure that Test and Validation Plans are agreed upon and integrated into Project Plans and development activities.
2. Contribute to the development and production of device-level (unit and component) and product-level (integration and acceptance) test specifications.
3. Plan, develop, and conduct independent device tests, including integration with other devices and components prior to product integration.
4. Plan, develop, and conduct product-level tests (integration and acceptance).
5. Perform ATM software installations and system integration testing.
6. Conduct automated and manual integration, acceptance, and system tests.
7. Participate in device and product design reviews.
8. Set up test environments, develop test equipment, and create test specifications.
9. Develop test equipment, including robotics and automation tools.
10. Develop comprehensive test scripts and scenarios to validate against design specifications.
11. Issue regular test status reports and final reports.
12. Provide independent input during project stage gate reviews.
13. Collect and maintain test effectiveness measures.
14. Engage in continuous improvement activities for test processes and product quality.
15. Support ISO9001:2015 quality management system through audits, process improvements, and maintaining accreditation.
Educational and Background Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field.
2. Experience in engineering development and manufacturing environments.
3. Exposure to full product development lifecycle.
4. Experience with product and device-level testing.
