Surveying Manager - Field Operations & Team Leadership
We're looking for an experienced Surveying Manager to lead and develop a high-performing field-based surveying team - while remaining hands-on and actively involved in survey delivery when needed.
This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys building strong teams, driving performance, and maintaining exceptional service standards - but who is equally comfortable putting on their boots and getting out on site.

The Role
Reporting into senior leadership, you'll take full responsibility for the performance, output and development of a field surveying team. You'll ensure work is delivered to the highest quality standards, manage workloads, and drive continuous improvement - while supporting the team during peak demand by conducting surveys yourself.
You'll play a key role in balancing people leadership, operational performance, and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & People Management
* Lead, coach and develop a team of field surveyors
* Conduct 1-to-1s, performance reviews and development planning
* Manage performance, wellbeing and engagement across the team
* Support recruitment, onboarding and training
* Create a positive, motivated and accountable team culture
Operational & Field Delivery
* Plan and manage workloads to meet targets, KPIs and service levels
* Monitor performance, quality and reporting accuracy
* Resolve operational issues, escalations and complaints
* Step into the field to conduct surveys and reports when required
* Identify and implement process improvements
Quality, Compliance & Safety
* Ensure all surveys, reports and costings meet required standards
* Maintain strong health & safety practices across field operations
* Ensure regulatory and procedural compliance
Resources & Equipment
* Oversee vehicles, tools and equipment used by the field team
* Ensure assets are maintained, available and fit for purpose
What We're Looking For
* Proven experience managing field-based teams
* Comfortable working both strategically and operationally
* Happy to remain hands-on in survey delivery when required
* Strong people leadership and performance management skills
* Experience working to KPIs, service levels and quality standards
* Background in utilities, telecoms, construction, or similar field operations highly desirable
* Commercial awareness and problem-solving mindset
* Strong organisational and communication skills
