We have a lovely role supporting our 24-year-old client. L has an acquired brain injury, but this does not get in the way of his enjoyment of different activities such as indoor skiing, football and trampolining, he loves being out and about and like any young man enjoys music. If you’d like to find out more, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
The Role/Client:
* L lives with his parents and brother and often enjoys trips out to events in his adapted automatic vehicle.
* L has an acquired brain injury and is non-verbal. L is a full-time wheelchair user and has a peg feed for all meals. Part of this role will be driving L to his activities and appointments and assisting at mealtimes with food preparation/feeding. L also requires help with all aspects of daily living including personal care.
* L has a lovely personality but sometimes he can become a little frustrated and agitated as would be expected but with the care of his family and Support Team these infrequent moods are overcome. Mum is very involved with L’s care and manages the Support Team.
About You:
* A caring personality and willingness to learn about our client’s needs are key. Full training will be provided
* You will need to be a driver to drive our client’s wheelchair adapted automatic vehicle however, you do not need to have your own vehicle as our client’s home is only a 20-minute walk from the train station/bus stop.
* L loves swimming so you would need to feel comfortable supporting him in the pool which is waist-height, but you don’t need to be a swimmer.
* You will be an animal lover with no allergies as the family have 3 cats and a dog.
* You will provide a supportive, engaging approach to our client by following his care plan and helping him achieve his rehabilitation goals. You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client and family.
