Job Description
We are looking for a Commercial Services Manager to support the team overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors. This role is essential to our projects, helping maximise returns on our budget and demonstrate value for money. You will also help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term collaborative partnership arrangements for the Environment Agency and society.
Responsibilities
* Support commercial governance of contract portfolios with consultancies and contractors.
* Develop and manage pathfinder programmes to embed best practice and support partnership arrangements.
* Provide country‑wide support to Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community, championing effective governance and commercial assurance.
* Build excellent internal and external relationships and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within a high‑performing team.
* Participate in incident response duties and undertake required training as part of your role.
Qualifications
* Evidence of A‑Level or Level 3 qualifications (or equivalent).
* Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
* Experience in data and document management.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, take proportionate risks and deliver value for money.
* Organisational skills; ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to pursue professional qualifications such as NEC training or CIPS.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
* Desirable: degree or equivalent professional qualification and status with a recognised body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g., NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme) is a plus.
