Role
As a Senior Project Manager based in Manchester, you will play a crucial role in delivering prestigious construction schemes with a hands‑on approach throughout the complete project lifecycle from inception to completion. You will work across diverse sectors including residential, retail, leisure, commercial, education, healthcare and power infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
* Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic advice at project conception stage, defining overall success criteria including time, cost, technical and performance parameters for major construction schemes.
* Programme Management: Lead comprehensive project planning and ongoing management of quality, safety, health and environmental issues across complex construction projects.
* Procurement Oversight: Advise on procurement of resources, contractor selection and contract management under JCT, NEC and other standard forms of construction contract.
* Team Leadership: Lead cross‑functional project teams including architects, engineers, quantity surveyors and specialist consultants on multi‑disciplinary construction projects.
* Performance Monitoring: Monitor project performance using KPIs, manage programme schedules and ensure delivery targets are met across all project phases.
* Financial Management: Monitor and advise on project finances, budget control, cost reporting and value engineering to optimise project outcomes.
* Business Development: Take responsibility for business development activities including cross‑selling opportunities and client relationship management.
* Client Interface: Attend client meetings, provide regular project updates and report to Associate Directors on project progress and strategic issues.
* Risk Management: Identify, assess and mitigate project risks throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring successful project delivery.
* Stakeholder Coordination: Manage relationships with local authorities, planning departments and regulatory bodies across Greater Manchester.

Essential Experience & Qualifications
* Proven experience in a similar senior project management role within the construction environment, ideally with consultancy experience.
* Degree qualification in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture or other relevant construction‑related discipline.
* Extensive experience managing diverse construction projects across multiple sectors (commercial, residential, healthcare, education).
* Strong track record of successful project delivery from inception to completion on complex construction schemes.
Technical Skills & Knowledge
* Comprehensive understanding of construction processes, procurement methods and contract administration.
* Experience with project management software (MS Project, Primavera P6) and construction planning tools.
* Knowledge of construction contracts (JCT, NEC, FIDIC) and experience in contract administration.
* Understanding of CDM regulations, health and safety legislation and construction compliance requirements.

* Proven ability to deal with complex issues appropriately and constructively whilst maintaining positive client relationships.

* Chartered status with relevant professional institutions (RICS, APM, ICE, CIOB).

Remuneration
* Competitive salary: £50,000 – £65,000 (depending on experience and qualifications).
