Sales Advisor (Events) – Torquay, Devon
The role reports to the Events Manager and is a key position in the business. The Sales Advisor will be proactive in seeking new business, managing enquiries, handling administrative tasks such as drawing up contracts, and showing clients around the venue.
Responsibilities
* Process all conference, meeting and banqueting enquiries generated through the website, email, telephone or walk‑in enquiries.
* Liaise with the Sales and Events Manager to support the development of existing business and create opportunities for new business.
* Maintain accurate data on business contacts and enquiries, adding and updating events in the event management system diary and ensuring follow‑ups and contact are maintained.
* Understand client requirements, objectives and budgets to create tailored event proposals and packages.
* Support the Sales and Events Manager in developing appropriate sales and marketing activities, which may include weekend or off‑site work.
* Perform administrative tasks such as keeping sales notes up to date, drawing up contracts and terms and conditions, providing room plans, sample menus and any other information required by the client before the event is confirmed.
* Help maintain a high standard of service throughout the department.
* Help maintain a high level of health and safety within the department.
* Carry out any other duties as reasonably directed by the Sales and Events Manager or Centre Manager.
Qualifications
* Experience in events and/or hospitality is desirable but not essential.
* Friendly, approachable and a “can‑do” attitude.
* Passionate about providing exceptional customer care.
* Excellent eye for detail, well organised and able to multitask.
* Flexible with occasional weekends or exhibitions.
* Computer literate – knowledge of Google Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar is an advantage.
* Desire to over‑achieve in a challenging but rewarding industry.

Other Requirements
The role may require a DBS Disclosure. If a DBS Disclosure is not already held, submission for a DBS check will be required.
Venue: The RIC is a multi‑use leisure centre comprising various leisure facilities, conference and function spaces. The event kitchen team and café staff support the venue’s operations.
