Job Overview
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in assisting individuals with daily living activities and providing compassionate care in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting clients with personal care, medication administration, and emotional support, ensuring their dignity and quality of life are maintained.
Duties
* Provide personal care assistance including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Support clients with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
* Administer medication as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects.
* Prepare meals according to dietary requirements and preferences.
* Assist with behaviour management strategies for clients with Alzheimer's or dementia.
* Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
* Maintain accurate records of client care and report any changes in condition to the appropriate personnel.
* Drive clients to appointments or social activities as needed.
Skills
* Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or hospice care is highly desirable.
* Knowledge of patient care principles, including dementia and Alzheimer's care.
* Proficiency in caregiving practices with a focus on senior care and home care settings.
* First aid certification is an asset; ability to respond effectively in emergencies.
* Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport with clients and their families.
* Ability to manage challenging behaviours compassionately and effectively.
* Competence in meal preparation tailored to individual dietary needs.
* Valid driving licence for transporting clients when required. This role requires a dedicated individual who is passionate about providing high-quality support to those in need, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times.
