We are looking for a reliable and motivated Production Operator to join our surface treatment team. You will be responsible for operating an automatic shot blasting machine, ensuring all components are processed to the highest quality standards, correctly documented, and prepared for the next stage of production.
This is a hands‑on role within a busy manufacturing environment, ideal for someone with a strong eye for detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
Main Duties
* Operate the automatic shot blasting machine safely and efficiently.
* Operate the manual shot blasting machine safely and efficiently (time spent manual blasting paid at a premium).
* Load and unload components, ensuring correct placement and handling.
* Visually inspect and verify that product details match accompanying paperwork (part numbers, quantities, and batch codes).
* Adjust blasting parameters (intensity, duration, speed) depending on product type and finish requirements.
* Pack processed parts into designated cages or containers for the next process.
* Maintain accurate production and quality documentation.
* Perform daily checks, cleaning, and minor maintenance on the machines.
* Identify and report faults, defects, or potential improvements to the supervisor.
* Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Personal Specification
* Experience with hand tools, abrasive wheels, drills, etc.
* Strong attention to detail and quality.
* Good mechanical aptitude and problem solving ability.
* Awareness of health, safety, and environmental concerns in a manufacturing setting.
* Basic maths skills, with the ability to understand engineering drawings and use measuring equipment accurately.
* Comfortable working in a noisy or dusty environment (PPE provided).
* Good communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to tackle a varied and physically demanding workload.
This position is based at our Vow Road Powder Coating Plant and will primarily operate on the day shift. However, flexibility is required, as evening shift work may occasionally be necessary to support production and staffing needs.
* Day shift: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:00pm
* Evening Shift (as required): Monday to Thursday, 4:45pm–2:45am
