Offer description

See it differently

You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.

Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

The Opportunity

On this 6-week Summer Internship you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding add value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity.

You’ll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There are regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development.

Our aim is to welcome as many students back into our other programmes be that another internship or potential graduate position. This placement is the stepping-stone to your future.

Our Civil Engineers can find themselves working in partnership with our experts in buildings, bridges, tunnels, geotechnics, environmental consulting and transport planning. Energy, collaboration, and effective communication is fundamental to bring these elements together as our Civil Engineering teams are often at the core of these disciplines acting as integrators or facilitators. Our teams also work closely with many external bodies to deliver the project, from clients and architects to statutory approval organisations. Our core skills in the Civil Engineering teams in the Transport portfolio typically include rail engineering, sustainable roads and streets development, maritime ports, pavement designs, earthworks assessments and utilities coordination.

You’ll help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high‑profile clients. While you’ll have a great deal of responsibility from day one, we’ll give you the chance to take on more as you progress and broaden your skills.

Is this role right for you?

We are looking for candidates who are working towards a degree in Civil Engineering.

We're looking for people who are curious and ready to evolve how you think and work. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas. At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. If you can share your knowledge and ideas and encourage others to do the same; whilst having a desire to deliver excellent services for clients – we'd like to hear from you.

We're looking for:

* Changemakers: A passion for sustainable development and creating a better world is key.
* Innovative minds: We're looking for critical thinkers who embrace new ideas and challenge the status quo.
* Growth seekers: You have a growth mindset, always eager to learn and explore new ways of working.
* Adaptable adventurers: You're ready to take on any challenge that comes your way.

You should be able to start this opportunity in Summer 2026.

Please note, in the event of high applicant volume, this role may be closed ahead of the advertised closing date. Early application is recommended.

Location Preferences

While the role you applied for is based in the location specified in the job advert, we may have other opportunities that align with your profile. To help us assess this, please let us know which Arup office locations you would be interested in working in on your application form.

Duplicate applications

Please note, candidates are permitted to submit only one application per recruitment cycle. We recommend reviewing all available opportunities and selecting the role and location(s) that best align with your skills and interests before applying.

What we offer you

Beyond a great salary and stimulating, technically challenging work, Arup offers a range of additional benefits to its people.
