Sous Chef roles Full time(Up to 45 hours available depending on availability) The Red Lion, Winfreth Part of Barr & Barrs Hospitality (a growing group of three pubs across Sussex and Dorset) Sous Chefs Wanted – Join Our Kitchen Adventure! Are you a passionate chef ready to take the next step in your career? Do you thrive in a local pub kitchen where quality, teamwork and creativity matter? If so, we’d love to hear from you. We are presently closed for refurbishment and are looking for brand new team members to join our next chapter. We re-opened on 5th March 2026. The Role As a Sous Chef at The Red Lion, Winfreth, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality food in a busy, welcoming pub environment. Responsibilities include: Supporting the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations Preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard during busy services Maintaining excellent food quality, consistency and presentation Ensuring all hygiene, health & safety and food safety standards are met Assisting with prep, stock control and kitchen organisation Working collaboratively as part of a close-knit kitchen team Supporting with food ordering and deliveries What We’re Looking For Motivated and enthusiastic sous chef(s) with a genuine passion for food Experience in a professional kitchen (pub or restaurant experience ideal) Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy services Strong organisational and time-management skills A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop A reliable team player with good communication skills Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and food safety Own transport preferred due to location What We Offer Competitive pay, based on experience A supportive and friendly working environment Opportunities to grow within Barr & Barrs Hospitality The chance to develop your skills in a respected local pub A passionate team that takes pride in great food and service Potential to join our Apprenticeship scheme in 2026 developing your skills.
