The Role As a Sous Chef at The Red Lion, Winfreth, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality food in a busy, welcoming pub environment. Responsibilities include: Supporting the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen operations Preparing and cooking dishes to a high standard during busy services Maintaining excellent food quality, consistency and presentation Ensuring all hygiene, health & safety and food safety standards are met Assisting with prep, stock control and kitchen organisation Working collaboratively as part of a close-knit kitchen team Supporting with food ordering and deliveries What We’re Looking For Motivated and enthusiastic sous chef(s) with a genuine passion for food Experience in a professional kitchen (pub or restaurant experience ideal) Ability to work calmly and efficiently during busy services Strong organisational and time-management skills A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop A reliable team player with good communication skills Commitment to high standards of cleanliness and food safety Own transport preferred due to location What We Offer Competitive pay, based on experience A supportive and friendly working environment Opportunities to grow within Barr & Barrs Hospitality The chance to develop your skills in a respected local pub A passionate team that takes pride in great food and service Potential to join our Apprenticeship scheme in 2026 developing your skills.
