Primary Teacher - Special Education
Location: Totnes, South Devon
Salary: £28,060 - £36,300 per annum (based on qualifications and experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:45am - 4:45pm
Start Date: September 2025
About the Role:

Our client, an independent special school based across two sites in South Devon, is seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join their team. The school provides highly personalised education for pupils aged 7-16, with a strong focus on social and emotional development supported by THRIVE principles. This role will be based primarily at the West Yarner site near Dartington, which serves primary-aged children (KS1/KS2). However, flexibility to work across both sites and on outreach is required, so access to your own vehicle is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and individualised lessons to pupils with a range of SEN and emotional or behavioural needs
Create a nurturing and safe learning environment that supports social and emotional growth
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and implement targeted interventions
Positively manage behaviour and contribute to the development of personalised timetables and enrichment activities
Ideal Candidate:
Qualified teacher (QTS, QTLS, PGCE preferred - other teaching qualifications considered)
Experience working in special education or with children with complex needs
Strong commitment to positive behaviour management strategies
Compassionate, resilient, and eager to make a meaningful impact
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
