FAI is looking for a early career or graduate hands-on operator to support the rollout of our BirdBox hardware and software product in the field. BirdBox is a poultry farm management system utilising automated sensors and farmer co-designed software to optimise daily farm management and deliver better productivity, animal welfare and sustainability in the poultry industry. This role bridges hardware preparation, logistics, customer liaison, installation planning, and early-stage product feedback. You’ll be working closely with the hardware suppliers, and farmers to make sure our kits are built, shipped, installed, and supported smoothly. This is an ideal opportunity for someone technically curious, practical, and comfortable getting their hands dirty in both the workshop and on farm sites. Tasks Responsibilities and Duties Hardware & Product Setup Prepare and configure IoT kits (routers, gateways, sensors, etc.) Basic assembly of enclosures & product kits Hardware testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting issues Stock management (tracking, ordering components, coordinating new builds with suppliers) Logistics & Deployment Package and ship products to customer sites Plan installation timelines and coordinate field deployments Onsite visits to farms for pre-install surveys and post-install follow-ups Customer Liaison Liaise with farmers to understand their site layouts, requirements, and constraints Adapt kit configurations to site-specific needs Provide clear documentation and installation notes Collect and report product feedback to the product and engineering team Product Feedback & Internal Communication Monitor installation and early performance Provide structured product feedback Work closely with Product Manager to prioritise improvements Requirements Qualifications & Experience Essential Early-career/Graduate position (0–3 years experience) - Comfortable with hands-on work: assembling, configuring, shipping hardware. Tech literate: basic knowledge. Organised and good communicator: will need to speak to farmers and internal teams clearly. Full, UK driving licence and car. Desirable Interest in agri-tech, IoT, or sustainability is an advantage. Position Full time – 37.5 hours per week, immediate start Location UK, hybrid with requirement to travel as part of the role. The BirdBox workshop and warehouse is based in Norwich, Norfolk. The successful candidate will be expected to be on site 1-3 days/week and therefore should live within easy travelling distance from Norwich.
