About The Role

Are you passionate about urban wildlife and community engagement? We're seeking a dynamic Urban Rewilding Programme Officer to co-lead Wilding Chesterfield, an inspiring community-driven project focused on urban species recovery.

In this role, you'll empower the people of Chesterfield to take meaningful action, transforming the city into a thriving habitat for swifts, bats, hedgehogs, and pollinators. You'll develop and deliver cutting-edge urban nature recovery initiatives that make a real difference.

Additionally, you'll forge strong relationships with local stakeholders, creating a network that supports and enhances urban biodiversity. You'll join us at an exciting point where our Wilder2030 strategy takes shape, ensuring our collective efforts drive a broader vision of nature recovery and community engagement.

To be successful you will

Be passionate about nature recovery, proactively seeking opportunities to listen thoughtfully, share knowledge, and be inspired to co-create nature-based solutions projects that benefit urban wildlife.

Be curious and creative, exploring new ways to work in collaboration to deliver nature recovery projects that inspire communities to take action.

Be courageous, standing up for what is right and challenge yourself and others to reimagine how people can deliver transformative change for nature.

About You

This role might be right for you if you have:

* Experience of developing and delivering nature conservation or rewilding projects.
* Experienced in writing conservation management plans and ability to adapt these to a rewilding and natural processes approach.
* Experienced in contractor management and safe working procedures.
* Experience of environmental or ecological monitoring as part of project evaluation.
* Good understanding of the state of nature in Derbyshire, and ways of improving urban places for wildlife including swifts, bats, hedgehogs and pollinators.
* Excellent communication skills to engage audiences and mobilise action.
* Experience of delivering excellent volunteering opportunities and inclusive stakeholder engagement.

This role will be based at our office in Middleton although a balance of home and office working will be allowed. We are a local charity so applicants should be easily able to access our office and other locations around the county.
