It provides a range of support, interventions and treatments for adults wanting to make positive changes to their drug and/or alcohol use, as well as supporting family members and running campaigns and events that raise awareness of addiction and celebrate recovery in the community. About the role If you enjoy chatting to others, bringing people together and connecting people with where they want to be, then this is the role for you! This opportunity is for a LGBTQIA Café Volunteer to support with setting up and running a new LGBTQIA Flourish Café. Based in Exeter for Together Drug and Alcohol Services, you will be helping to make anyone attending feel at ease, encourage social connection through conversation, signpost to other local activities, and facilitate focussed activities. Together have a network of Flourish Cafes across Devon. They are spaces that encourage people to come together, to connect, socialise and enjoy a cuppa together. Some Flourish Cafes also include activities such as arts, games or mindfulness. And some Cafes run as focussed sessions, such as women only or men only spaces, giving everyone the time to feel heard, safe and supported. This café will be a proud addition to our focussed sessions, welcoming all LGBTQIA people. Tasks you might be involved in include: Being a friendly face and welcoming those who attend Taking a person's details and connecting them with the relevant member of staff, volunteer or group Offering a listening ear and facilitating discussions that bring people together Setting up the cafe, keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy, and packing away following each session Making hot drinks and preparing basic food, such as slices of toast and spreads Promoting the café and signposting to other activities available across Together and in the wider community Record numbers of attendees, noting any particular topics of interest or signpostings made Identify and report any concerns or risks to the Duty staff or Duty Manager within the building Planning and delivering activities (including helping with writing risk assessments) - these could be creative based arts and craft, board games, music based, or other skills and interests that you bring with you.
