Job Title: Technical Author

We are working with a leading UK-based aerospace company based in Glasgow, developing advanced rocket and launch vehicle technologies that are helping to re-establish the UK’s space launch capability. The company is growing rapidly, with multiple projects across propulsion, systems engineering, and vehicle development, all aimed at delivering innovative, sustainable access to space.
As part of this expansion, they are seeking a Technical Document Writer to enhance the quality, clarity, and consistency of technical documentation across all divisions. This role will be key in supporting engineering teams and ensuring that complex technical information is presented with precision and professionalism, directly contributing to project performance and delivery excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, write, and edit technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and engineering reports.
Produce user manuals, data sheets, and technical summaries.
Coordinate with engineering teams to gather and verify information for documentation.
Support in drafting and reviewing grant applications and associated materials.
Follow established documentation standards and in-house style guides.
Interpret complex technical details and rework them for varied audiences.
Manage timelines and ensure documents meet project delivery schedules.
Apply systems engineering principles to manage gate documents.
Continuously improve documentation processes and efficiency.
Oversee engineering drawing management, version control, and standardisation.
Review and edit documentation from other writers for accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with teams across test sites, operations, and vehicle assembly.
Preferred Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (Aerospace, Mechanical, or similar).
3+ years of experience in technical writing within an engineering environment.
Understanding of systems engineering and document management processes.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
Ability to create and structure documentation from first principles.
Experience performing gap analyses to improve existing documentation systems.
Skilled in gathering and synthesising information from subject matter experts.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
