Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer to join the School of Environmental Sciences. The successful candidate will have research interests in shelf sea oceanography, including the physics of shelf seas and the shelf break, as well as estuarine and/or coastal oceans. You will join the Centre for Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences (COAS) within the School of Environmental Sciences. This full-time post is available from 1 September 2026 on an indefinite basis.
Responsibilities
* Develop international-calibre research programmes complementary to existing strengths in ocean science at UEA and be open to our growing research activities in coastal science.
* Carry out research that exploits the ocean glider fleet owned and operated by UEA (encouraged).
* Supervise and mentor postdoctoral researchers and PhD students.
* Contribute to undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching in environmental sciences and/or data science.
* Carry out associated administrative duties.
Qualifications / Requirements
* Research interests in shelf sea oceanography, including the physics of shelf seas and the shelf break, as well as estuarine and/or coastal oceans.
* Ability to develop and lead research programmes in line with COAS and School priorities.
* Experience or demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor researchers and to contribute to teaching and data science education.
