Wood Power Solutions (PSUK) is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing business! The role will support the development of geotechnical input to enable the delivery of our secured projects and those being tendered. In addition to the day-to-day operation, this role will support the development of the geotechnical appreciation and understanding across the PSUK business. Wood’s commitment to hybrid working allows for a combination between office and home working. You will be required to travel as and when required. The role can be based at Wood’s offices across the UK to suit the successful candidate.

You will function as a lead geotechnical engineer giving guidance across the team. You will prepare suitable geotechnical specifications to allow engagement of the supply chain to execute geotechnical assessments. Development of team skills and knowledge in line with business needs is key. You will also support development of systems and technologies to enhance our efficiency, quality, and innovation. The ability to develop geotechnical engineering strategies for projects and understand risk associated is essential. You will possess effective communication skills, the ability to prioritise and balance technical, commercial, and operational needs; and be able to effectively manage change. You will make an impact from day one and would be a chartered engineer with considerable experience.

What You Will Do:
8. Provide technical input into proposals and delivery of overhead line and cable construction projects.
9. Manage the interface between geotechnical engineering service providers, the PSUK engineering team and our operational construction teams.
10. Support construction technical queries raised to the engineering team.
11. Attend site as needed to scope work or to provide oversite of sub-contractors as needed by operational teams. Twenty-five percent of your time will be spent on site.
12. Ensure, as far as practicable, that all assigned work is conducted in compliance with the agreed budget and programme.
13. Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.

Essential:
14. Degree in engineering, or applicable related discipline (preferably Chartered).
15. Demonstrated experience as a Geotechnical Engineer with working knowledge of evaluating ground conditions; and developing strategies and specifications for undertaking site surveys.
16. Proven experience of undertaking desktop evaluations of potential ground conditions from existing data sources and noting the risks and limitations from these assessments.
17. Awareness of Civil Construction techniques, particularly for temporary roads, foundations and excavations and the typical data requirements for the safe design and installation of temporary and permanent works.
18. Awareness of key Health and Safety impacts from the installation of civil engineering works on construction contracts.
19. Fluent spoken and written English language.
20. Ability to drive is beneficial.
Desirable:
21. Degree Level education in geotechnical related discipline.
22. Experience of working on power transmission project.
23. Site based experience supporting civil construction projects.
24. Experience in working under CDM regulations as a designer.
