Job Advert Falkirk Council are looking to recruit a Support for Learning Assistant for St Margarets Primary School. You will provide support for teachers, early years professionals and children to enhance experiences and achievement for children. You will undertake a range of support activities with regard to general supervision, safety, care and well-being of the children. You will be required to: Provide practical assistance to teachers in attending to the needs of all pupils in the classroom and facilitating inclusion. Provide physical and motivational support to pupils including developing positive and supportive relationships with pupils, assisting with mobility and ensuring safety within the school and promoting and developing interaction with other pupils. Respond to the needs of the pupil in supporting the day-to-day learning, including reading & scribing with pupils, supporting specialist programmes such as speech therapy or motor skills, assisting with personal hygiene, supporting the planning and evaluation of Child's Action Plans, risk assessments and more. Assist with the provision of a safe school environment by supervising pupils within the school and particularly within the dining room, playground, cloakrooms, lavatories and on educational excursions as required. Undertake medical duties in school e.g. administer basic first aid; apply agreed procedures in instances of sickness or accident involving a pupil; administer prescription and emergency medication. Required to carry out approved procedures, in line with the Child's Healthcare Plan including, but not limited to, changing of stoma bags, tracheostomy and suctioning care You will encounter individuals whose circumstances mean they are distressed because of their physical, emotional and/or mental health needs. You will need to be skilled and have experience of doing this effectively. You will be required to maintain confidentiality at all times. You will work 27.5 hours per week on a term time basis. Your working pattern will be Monday to Friday. This is a permanent post. If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
