About the Role: A dedicated special needs school in Erdington is seeking a passionate KS3 Teaching Assistant to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role requires a compassionate individual who can contribute to a supportive learning environment, conducting assessments and providing tailored assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supporting the social, emotional, and mental health needs of KS3 students.
2. Assisting teachers with lesson preparation and classroom displays.
3. Providing one-on-one and small group support to students.
4. Collaborating within the SEMH department.
5. Demonstrating flexibility, proactivity, and patience.
Ideal Candidate:
6. Experience or strong interest in supporting students with SEMH.
7. Nurturing and compassionate approach.
8. Effective team communication skills.
Essential Requirements:
9. Teaching Assistant qualification or relevant SEN experience.
10. Experience supporting students with SEMH needs.
11. PECS and Makaton experience (desirable).
12. Valid Enhanced DBS check (or subscription to the update service).
13. Valid Photo ID (driving license or passport).
14. Recent, verifiable school-based references.
15. Level 1 Safeguarding Certificate.
