Baker – Levain Bakehouse
At Levain Bakehouse, everything starts with a love of the craft. We bake from scratch, obsess over naturally leavened breads, viennoiserie and create pastries that celebrate flavour and technique. Alongside our bakes, we serve specialty coffee worth slowing down for and we take just as much pride in the warm, attentive service that keeps our community coming back.
We're looking for a Skilled Baker who's as passionate about viennoiserie as we are. You'll bring solid experience in pastry, a sharp eye for detail, and a knack for mentoring—helping a junior baker grow while keeping quality at the highest level.
What You'll Bring
* Genuine passion for pastry, with proven skills in laminated doughs, tarts, creams, and custards.
* Ideally, some leadership or supervisory experience in a bakery or pastry kitchen but not essential.
* The ability to motivate, guide, and inspire a small team as we expand our next chapter.
* Excellent time management, calm focus under pressure, and dependable creativity.
* Comfort with early starts (no earlier than 5am) and the physical side of baking.
* Solid knowledge of ingredients, allergen awareness, and product shelf life.
* Clear communication skills and familiarity with tools like WhatsApp to stay connected with the team.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, dedicated team
What You'll Do
* Lead the daily and weekly production schedule, ensuring every bake meets our high standards.
* Mix, shape, and bake a range of croissants, and pastries.
* Laminate and handcraft beautiful viennoiserie.
* Develop and document new recipes and seasonal specials.
* Maintain impeccable food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
* Oversee stock levels and help manage inventory reporting.
* Mentor a junior baker with hands-on training and thoughtful feedback.
* Foster a collaborative and respectful kitchen environment that continually strives for better quality.
* Work closely with our front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and happy customers.
* Keeping the bakery clean, organised, and food-safe at all times.
