Electrical Data Centre Engineer - UK, Milton Keynes - Permanent Contract
We are working with a European data centre operator that is rapidly expanding its footprint across the continent, focusing onedge computing infrastructurethat brings digital services closer to end-users. This company is building a network ofsustainable, low-latency data centresand currently has projects in Germany, France, the UK, the Netherlands, and Spain.
Responsibilities:
* Work with the Data Centre Manager and the senior management to set strategic objectives for the property and manage the implementation.
* Work with the technical operations engineering team colleagues to ensure that best practice is being adopted and that a common approach is in place.
* Ensure that procedures are followed to remain competent to act as the first line response engineer in the event of a fault in the site plant or infrastructure to minimise the potential for outages and reduce the frequency of outages.
* Implement and manage a rigorous change management system to ensure 100%uptimeis achieved across the facility.
* Identify and recommend operational improvements to be implemented on site.
* Ensure that all compliance and standards are implemented and observed across the site, including Health and Safety.
* Manage all integrated Hard and Soft services consummate with a critical environment.
* Ensure that procedures and service operating procedures (SOPs) are understood and complied with.
* Ensure timely response and update to service tickets, management of critical infrastructure issues and an accurate and timely engineering handover to the incoming shift engineer.
* Work as a team to embrace the core values of the company.
* Complete and have ready all necessary paperwork, forms, permits ,CERMAand reports in a timely fashion.
* Closely manage, supervise the performance and work of maintenance suppliers and clients.
Requirements:
* Hold a relevant technical qualification where necessary and proven experience. · Experience in site management, operation and maintenance of critical engineering systems and understands the full range of M & E equipment in a modern critical environment.
* Professional and strategic approach to management of works and projects
* Planning, organising and prioritising skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Strong rapport and relationship building skills with both internal and external customers.
* Ability to work under pressure and keep calm in a crisis
* Previous experience of working as a team player in a small team
* Experience of dealing with customer problems in difficult circumstances
* Previous experience of technical and operational management of data Centre and preferably within the co-location / wholesale sector
* Computer-literacy/IT skills – email, data entry, excel, power point, word
