Workshop Service Manager
Are you an experienced Service Manager or Workshop Foreman looking to join a market leader in hire? Do you enjoy supporting colleagues and helping get the best out of them? We are looking for a Workshop Service Manager to join the Nationwide Platforms team. You will oversee a team of engineers, with full responsibility for the depot. A commercial outlook and a focus on driving best practices to achieve challenging engineering targets are essential.

Responsibilities include:
1. Manage all resources related to the maintenance of a hire fleet of trucks and van-mounted booms.
2. Ensure effective implementation of all engineering policies and procedures.
3. Maintain high levels of equipment availability and reliability at optimal costs.
4. Support compliance with legislative requirements and internal QHSE standards.
5. Deliver technical initiatives and projects successfully.
6. Continuously improve engineering standards using best practices.
7. Produce qualitative and quantitative engineering-related reports.
8. Manage workshop labor and administrative resources to meet maintenance standards and objectives.
9. Ensure fleet hire availability through effective scheduling.
10. Provide technical advice to location staff.
11. Coordinate duties with operators (dotted line responsibility).
12. Meet and greet customers, provide machine handovers, and familiarize them with operations.
13. Ensure all maintenance activities are completed to standard and within timescales.
14. Carry out engineering initiatives to appropriate standards and deadlines.
15. Apply safe systems of work to all activities.
16. Report on engineering outputs and incidents, including warranty failures and customer damages.
17. Identify staff training needs and deliver toolbox talks.
18. Maintain stock levels for spares, fuels, and lubricants.
19. Liaise with external parts and service providers.
20. Contribute to inter-group projects and develop relationships across regions.
21. Share best practices.
Requirements:
* Experience managing a team of service engineers in a hire business.
* Formal training in an engineering discipline, qualified to C&G 390, NVQ level 3, or equivalent.
* Understanding of HGV compliance.
* Strong communication skills.
