Job Description
The Service & Team:
We are a small friendly team of Education Advisors and Technical Officers who work across the County in a variety of educational settings with learners who use powered Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. The team is part of the wider SEND Support Services and we working closely with our colleagues to provide training and development around broader SEND policies and procedures i.e. Graduated Response and EHC Needs Assessments.
We value learning and continuous professional development and there is a wide variety of training nationally and internationally which we access.
The Role
This is an exciting role based mainly in the East of the County working in a wide variety of educational settings where no two days are the same
Primarily you will be working to support the learners on our caseload to ensure that are included fully within the life of their school or educational setting.
You will be working in educational settings providing advice along with high quality and accessible guidance; delivering training to the adults that live, support and work with the learners and most importantly working with the learners themselves.
This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies.
This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check.
Working Pattern
18.5 hours per week (0.5 FTE). There is flexibility as to which days are worked between Monday and Friday.
What You'll Need To Succeed
You will be a qualified and experienced teacher with a passion for working with children and young people with communication needs. These learners will be at the heart of everything you do and you will be constantly striving to support them to achieve their best outcomes.
You will always keep the voice of the learner at the centre of your practice enabling self advocacy as well as developing the skills of those around them.
A working knowledge of AAC is not essential for this role as training can be given. However we would love to hear about your experience if you have any
