Allied Health Professional - Clinical Nurse Specialist

We are looking for a Band 7 CAMHS Clinician to work in our Wandsworth Single Point of Access (SPA) triage and assessment service.

Location: Springfield Hospital, Wandsworth, South West London.

Closing date: 31 May 2026.

Job responsibilities

To process and triage referrals, arrange triage calls and provide screening mental health assessments of young children and their parents/carers based upon the appropriate use, interpretation, and integration of complex data from a variety of sources.

* Support neurodevelopmental screening and assessment of children and young people presenting with neurodevelopmental concerns (including Autism Spectrum Conditions and ADHD).
* Evaluate and decide on signposting or intervention options, taking into account theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients under psychologically based standard care plans.
* Liaise with multi‑agency professionals and provide specialist mental health advice and consultation.
* Contribute to evidence‑based integrated working tools and processes to ensure holistic and coordinated services.

To provide supervision, consultations and support to qualified staff and to trainees, interns and assistant psychologists within the service.

* Maintain accurate and accessible health care records according to Trust policy and Information Governance requirements.
* Demonstrate high‑level communication skills, both written and verbal, within all agencies.
* Evaluate and decide on treatment options considering theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors.
* Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for assessment, treatment, and discharge of clients under psychologically based standard care plans.
* Contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically based framework of understanding and care for all clients across settings and agencies.
* Undertake risk assessment and risk management for relevant individual clients and provide advice to other professions on psychological aspects of risk assessment and management, including Public Protection agencies.
* Communicate sensitively information concerning assessment, formulation, and treatment plans of clients and monitor progress during both uni‑ and multi‑disciplinary care, including organising/attending professional network meetings where appropriate.


Training & qualifications

* Registered mental health nurse, or qualified Clinical Psychologist registered with the HCPC as an applied psychologist, or qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist with successful completion of a training course recognised/accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) or equivalent, and registered with ACP, or qualified Systemic Family Psychotherapist registered with the UKCP via the College of Family Couple and Systemic Therapy.
* Training as part of a CYP IAPT collaborative in a recognised evidence‑based approach.


Experience

* Demonstrable experience of working with children and young people in a variety of community settings.
* Experience of multi‑disciplinary team working.
* Experience of inter‑agency working.
* Experience of safeguarding and Child Protection.
* Experience of leading case reviews.
* Experience of working in the NHS.
* Experience of teaching and liaising with other professional groups.

Salary: £55,524 to £62,652 a year inclusive of Inner London HCAs.
